Jacob P. VanHouten is a freelance writer covering science, technology, and medicine. His work has appeared on the Health Affairs and Kolabtree blogs. Outside of writing, he serves as Chief Resident for the Preventive Medicine Residency Program at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut, US. He earned an MD, an MS in Biostatistics, and a PhD in Biomedical Informatics from Vanderbilt University, where his dissertation focused on methods of representing structured medical data.
