Matthew Hutson

Matthew Hutson is a freelance writer and a contributing writer at The New Yorker, covering science and technology. His work has appeared in Science, Nature, Wired, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, and other publications. He has worked at Fermilab, Sally Ride Science, and Psychology Today, where he was the news editor. He is also the author of “The 7 Laws of Magical Thinking.” Hutson has a B.Sc. in cognitive neuroscience from Brown University and an S.M. in science writing from M.I.T., where he wrote his thesis on AI and creativity. He lives in New York, United States.
