In 2011, an earthquake and tsunami in Japan’s Tohuku region led to a massive loss of lives and infrastructure. While the country carried out rescue operations, Tohoku University established the Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization to monitor the recovery of the victims through large-scale studies.
